Frequently asked questions

What is a buyer premium?+

The buyer premium is 10% of the winning bid, with a minimum of £300 (inc VAT). It is paid by the buyer in addition to the winning bid and is how Absolute Reg earns its fee — sellers pay nothing.

How long does a transfer take?+

A DVLA transfer typically takes 2–4 weeks to complete from the point payment is received.

What documents do I need to sell?+

You will need either a V750 Certificate of Entitlement or a V778 Retention Certificate. We do not currently accept registrations assigned to a vehicle or held on a V5C logbook.

Is my money safe?+

Yes. Funds are held securely in escrow and are only released once the transfer is complete.

What does it cost to sell?+

Nothing. Sellers pay no fees whatsoever — you receive the full winning bid amount.

What registrations can I sell?+

Any UK private registration that you legally hold the entitlement to.
