Cookie Policy
Last updated: 24 Jun 2026
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies such as local storage work in the same way. They let a site remember your actions and preferences, keep you signed in, and understand how the site is used. This policy explains the cookies Absolute Reg uses and how you can control them.
2. How we use cookies
We use cookies to keep you securely signed in, to remember your cookie choices, to credit the affiliate who referred you, to monitor errors so we can fix them, and — where you allow it — to measure how the site is used so we can improve it.
3. Cookies we use
Essential — always on
These are required for the site to work and cannot be switched off.
- Clerk authentication (__session, __client_uat, __clerk_*) — sign you in and keep your session active and secure. Set by our login provider, Clerk.
- Affiliate referral (ar_ref, ar_ref_type) — record which partner referred you so they are correctly credited if you register. Expires after 30 days.
- Cookie consent (absolute-reg.cookie-consent) — remembers the choices you make in our cookie banner so we do not ask again.
Functional
- Error monitoring (Sentry) — captures technical errors and a small sample of performance data so we can diagnose and fix problems. Not used for advertising.
Analytics — only if you allow it
- Google Analytics (_ga, _ga_*, _gid) — helps us understand how visitors find and use the site, such as pages viewed, time on site and general location, so we can improve it. These cookies are set only after you accept Analytics cookies, and the data is aggregated. They can last up to two years. See Google's information at policies.google.com/technologies/cookies.
Marketing
We do not currently set marketing or advertising cookies. If we introduce them, they will be listed here and will only run if you accept Marketing cookies.
4. Managing your preferences
When you first visit, our consent banner lets you accept all cookies or manage your preferences to choose which categories to allow. Essential cookies cannot be switched off because the site cannot function without them. You can also control or delete cookies through your browser settings, though disabling essential cookies may stop parts of the site working. For more about cookies and how to manage them, see the ICO guidance at ico.org.uk.
5. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our use of cookies changes. Any changes will be posted on this page.
